Loved your tribute. I too was catapulted into widowhood at 42- raising 3 sons. We all still grieve many years later, yet press on with life.

Thank you. I especially appreciate your comment, because you lived through what we did. I know what a courageous woman you are to deal with the business of death and your grief, then mother your children through this devastating situation. I send my deepest respect and sympathy. I hope your sons understand what you did.

Yes, we do press on. And we carry the damage (and perhaps meaningfulness) of our own experience of the loss. "This is the way," as the Mandalorian would say about his zen-ish code.

I love that second to last paragraph (I think) the one about grief. It captures the experience and how it can just pop up out of nowhere so beautifully.

As always, a beautiful tribute to your Brent, to love, to a realization that all of us deserve the same rights, choices, and access.

From the way you describe Brent, I know he would have appreciated your thoughtful update preface about our current debacle.

Sending you much love, dear Beth.

And thanks for this beautiful note with love, dear Katherine. You're right. Brent would be horrified by Trump as president--a terrible, vengeful man whose greatest joy seems to be gross destruction. I just read someone describing him as an ignoramus. Yes, indeed, and that's the tip of the iceberg. Sending love back. xxx

Once again, a beautiful piece. This one made me weep for the death of dear Brent, the loss of beauty, of our dearest ones, of the things we value and cherish the most. Thank you.

Love you, my friend. I would have loved Brett. I wish I had known him.

I don't understand why too many people don't realize that gay people are people just like the rest of us. It's just wrong.

The boyz moved to Philly and have great jobs. I'm so glad they are not in the South with current idiotic dictator. I am in Conway.

Miss you!

Of course, I completely agree. What do the haters think? That God says, the gays go over here. No. God says, and now for our fabulous special guests!

Happy for your boyz and glad they're safe. Miss you, too! Sending love...xxx

Beth, thank you so much for sharing this. We have lost too many loved ones to AIDES. It was horrible at that time. Although I am a little younger than Brent, I fully experienced the fear, chaos and above all hate towards our community.

Two years ago I lost my beloved father and I experienced the same kind of grief you are describing in your piece.

Thank you, Ralph. No one should have to live through hate, which is being revived by our current corrupt and shameful administration. And I am so sorry for your loss. Grief truly never dies, and it pops up when you least expect it. Sending love.
